Four-eyes

I still can't believe that this is happening, but my 3-year-old now has glasses. We had been noticing (for a while) that when Britt would do certain things, he would go cross-eyed. Once in a while he would even look at you and say, "hey, I see two of you." He also had to tilt his head to an odd angle to read books and things like that. I did a little research on lazy eyes and thought that might be what he had. We prepared him for the possibility that he may need to wear a patch over one eye until the other one could get stronger. (Which was an idea he loved! He could be a "pirate" all the time!) A few weeks ago I took him to the Optometrist and we were all shocked at how badly Britt needed glasses. We had no idea that the poor kid was so far-sighted (meaning he can see things far away, but can't focus on things close to him). He was having such a hard time focusing, that his weaker eye would go crossed and he wasn't even using it some of the time.
He seems to be doing well with his glasses. He has been noticing things constantly since getting them. Last night at dinner, he remarked that he never knew there were "little balls" in our pepper mill. He just saw a black blur and assumed it was already ground up. I worried that he wouldn't want to wear glasses all the time, but since realizing that Peter Parker AND Clark Kent wear glasses, he's loving it. It's taking a while for all of us to get used to it, but we're so glad that he can see better... plus he looks pretty stinkin cute in glasses. :)

I agree, he looks adorable in glasses!!! I remember getting glasses and seeing individual leaves on trees and being shocked with the details...what....not a green blob?! Awesome that you noticed it so early!

He is too handsome! I'm glad he's doing well with them. What a trooper! I'm glad he's able to notice all the little things--like his adorable freckles! Had he ever noticed them before?

There's nothing sweeter than a little boy in glasses. Really, it's precious. Holden got a fake pair of Harry Potter glasses for his birthday, and I wish he would wear them all the time.

How cool to witness Britt seeing certain things for the first time!

He looks so cute! Are they child proof? I know Ethan would break them before the day's end.

He looks super-cool in those glassaes. They certainly have come a long way with how much cooler glasses look since I was a kid wearing them.

Haha, I read your comment you left on my blog. We must have similar interests in names. I love the name Oliver too. I think it was your mom (or someone in your family) said you guys were thinking about the name Lily too :)

We're leaving for AZ this week!
