Four years after we bought the place...
We FINALLY got the new kitchen countertops we've been talking about since we bought this house! Thank goodness for tax returns, huh? :) Here are a few pictures of the before and after...
Before: pretty plain and boring, huh?
After: look at all that counter-space! notice the long-awaited dishwasher too! It's not exactly finished, but it's still a huge improvement :)

and, of course, everyone's favorite part of a new appliance...the big box! That's one of those classic "father & son" moments...making your kid's first playhouse. :)

That's awesome!! I'm especially excited for you to have a dishwasher! I didn't have one until we moved into Second Ward (that's almost 7 years of hand-washing) and it quickly became my FAVORITE appliance. Congratulations!

WOW! Those look really nice! I would be so flippin excited if I was you. I am sure you are huh. Oh and I to am so glad that you have a dishwasher now! I am sure it is SOOOO much nicer for you now. I would really hate to do dishes if I didn't have a dishwasher. :)
Wow!! That looks great!! What kind of counter top did you do? Leave it do a designer to ask the boring questions! :) And the dishwasher looks great, like it always belonged there. They are sure nice, I know I appreciate mine even though it doesn't always work really great.

My kids love the big boxes too. Anthon's parents got a new water heater and they made the box into a little house. It's the only thing they play with over there!
I don't even know if anyone knows the word dishwasher out here. None of the houses have them. The thing that's even worse is if you don't clean the dishes right away, roaches that are about 4 or more inches will join the party! (Oh, did I mention they know how to fly too??)
I really like your kitchen though. Did you guys do it, or did you have someone come out and do it?

Brandi, we just got laminate countertops. We looked at the real granite and stuff and decided that since we're selling the house soon we didn't care if they weren't super fancy. :)
and Steph... I can not imagine the roaches! Yuck! I found one in our apartment in Mesa one time and was like, "we are moving." I guess when you live somewhere as beautiful as Hawaii, there has to be at least one draw-back, huh? :)
