As we lay asleep in the wee hours of the morning, a whimper comes from the next room. I listen for a minute, thinking, "he'll fall back to sleep in a second or two..." but the whimpering gradually gets louder. It's my turn to check on him, so I tiptoe into his room and to his bed-side. His eyes are closed, he's only half-awake. As I sit on the edge of his bed he looks up at me through half-opened eyes. After another whimper he raises his hand to point at his other hand and says, "my fingers not workin..." I check as well as I can in the glow of his night light, and yes, they're still attached.... a few seconds later I realize what's wrong. He's been sleeping on that arm and his fingers are numb. I try to conceal a laugh as he whimpers a little more and asks, in a very concerned voice, "what happened to me??" A few seconds after straightening his arm, the feeling returns and he happily proclaims, "look! my fingers workin again!" Thrilled at the fact that he still has two functioning arms, he rolls over (with a smile on his face) and cozies up to go back to sleep.
Upon my return to bed, I hear a chuckle from Justin. "I could hear him... did his fingers fall asleep?" yep...not many things make us laugh at 5 in the morning. :) It's amazing how many things are still new and unfamiliar to a three-year-old.
side note: as I was writing this Britt was playing on the floor, rolling around and being different animals. Anyway, he just walked over to me and said, "MOM! I can feel in my body... somethin' poundin and poundin! Feel!" Sure enough, his heart was beating like crazy... or should I say "poundin." :)

He is such a funny boy! It makes me anxious for Ellee to start talking more. She was SOOO cranky when she woke up from her nap in the stroller. I wonder if she realizes she missed out on some GOOD fro-yo...
Your little guy is such a hoot! I'll never forget that night we had our R.S. get together at the church. We were eating goodies when he brought me a cookie that he had eaten all the inside out of. He said I could have it. He was so nice to share with me! Goofy kid! Melinda
Oh, that is so cute!! You sure have a funny little boy! :)
That's awesome! It kills when things like that happen, because it's so traumatic for them and we're trying so hard not to laugh our heads off. Just always reminds me that I have SO much to teach them still.
What a funny kid. Some of us never grow out of it! Rissy has been waking me up in the middle of the night lately by talking in her sleep. Sometimes it is hilarious and other times it scares me for a second. A fun one was a couple of weeks ago when she woke me up suddenly by saying, "OOOOOH, that is SO BEAUTIFUL!!!" I asked her what was beautiful and she said that the little girl's drawing was so beautiful and that she had done such a great job. She was talking loudly and excitedly. After talking about it for a minute, she finally woke up and after I asked her another question she seemed really confused and asked me what I was talking about. It was a lot of fun. All I can figure is that she was talking to one of the kids in her nursery class about a picture they were coloring. Watch out with Britty-Boy...you're in for a lifetime of memorable experiences! What a sweet kiddo, and hey...who doesn't still feel weird sometimes when a limb goes numb...it's CRAZY!!!
What a cute story. I love those kind of moments when you see things through their eyes for a moment. Its always interesting and super sweet. How are you feeling? Just about there right. See ya around. :)
That is too funny! He is so cute and smart, I love reading his view on things. Hope all is well, can't wait for your little one to get here so we can see pictures!
